Refunds to some Conn. heating oil customers OH YEA

YEP- you got that right!

Seems like one of the biggest heating oil companies (that own a bunch of smaller companies) didn’t play fair. Who would a thunk it?

It happens and unfortunatly I believe it happens more times then consumers know.

Hartford, Conn. —

Connecticut officials say thousands of state residents might be entitled to partial refunds on home heating oil bills.

Heating Oil Partners has agreed to partial refunds to consumers automatically enrolled in its capped pricing programs. Those customers ended up paying substantially more when oil prices drastically fell.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal says that between August 2008 and February 2009 some consumers overpaid because they were locked into a higher-than-market price for heating oil.

Under the agreement HOP will refund consumers unknowingly enrolled in a Capped Price Program and provide them refunds equal to the savings they would have received if they had been paying market prices for oil.
