Resume and Job related web site reviews

by John on January 30, 2009

It’s tough hearing the news…

Day after day with lay off after layoff. SO I thought I’d do something about it.

After some research I found lots of sites on "creating your resume" or "connecting you" with the perfect job. Many of them looked cheezy and not worth the effort.

But I did find a handful that had some promise and here’s a short review:

1.) Let’s start with RESUME RABBIT

This site puts "getting your resume out" on steroids.

It instantly submits your resume to 75+ job sites including all the biggies like CareerBuilder, Net-Temps, Dice… I’m sure you get the picture.

The site is seen by over 1.5 million employers and recruiters daily. It takes me ONLY 5 minutes & according to the site it saves you over 60 hours of research and data entry. I’d have to agree with that. Best of all, its easy to use!

If you’re in a rush and want your resume out fast   RESUME RABBIT

2.) Looking to do a little research before you pull the trigger?

You’ll need to go to the VAULT

Vault publishes over 120 career guides and its web site, features thousands of company, university, industry and occupational profiles.

Vault provides salary surveys, articles on workplace topics, a network of message boards for professionals, and job-related video, blogs and research tools.

Vault is the Internet’s most trusted name for career information, called the "best place on the Web to prepare for a job search" by Fortune magazine and named one of Forbes’ "Best of the Web."

I was able to weasel a 25% discount for people that read this post.  VAULT

3.) If your in a top spot career position looking for "Executive Positions"

The catch is they are set up to help job seekers that are doing at least $8,0000 to $500,000 + , with 10 years experience. Executive Search Online

They are a leading nationwide service for those execs who wish to be considered at small employers, growth firms and Fortune 1000 companies.

I went through the exercise of inputting my info. It took me about 8 minutes start to finish and it was relatively painless…

If you are or want to be considered for that executive position I’d have a look and don’t discount it just because its Free to all job hunters. Executive Search Online

4.) $100K + job searches (they do your job search for you)

A Human-Powered Job Search Portal is the first service of its kind: a human-powered job search portal that prescreens online search results for time-starved managers and executives.

These guys match opportunities with jobseekers based on each member’s unique profile, saving our subscribers countless hours of Internet searching.

They are the only $100K+ job portal that offers search results prescreened by real people; helping customers save time and drive relevance in their job search.

Unlike ALL other job boards which are “self service” models, they are a “concierge model”. It’s like a headhunter but punched up a few notches. In other words they do your job search for you and push relevant jobs to you on a routine basis.

They offer a free trial… RISESMART

5.) Tech Jobs anyone? Let’s talk niche shall we…

JustTechJobs is the gateway to a collection of vertically focused technology job Web sites. JustTechJobs has selected the leading technologies in the IT industry and has created separate Web sites dedicated exclusively to each.

This niched approach gives JustTechJobs the unique ability to get the right job postings directly to the right technology professionals.

Here’s the cool thing. It offers a community of over 15 million tech professionals supported by 120 web sites.

If you’re a techey or thinking about it this site rocks. JustTechJobs

6.) Stretch your dollar

If you ever wondered where all the products that the big department stores can’t sell because the stuff is to expensive or where all the returns they get go?

They sell them to liquidators for pennies on the dollar and the liquidators resell them cheap.

I just saw an offer for Apple Ipods (in bulk).

My first idea was to scoop them up and resell them on ebay.

So if your looking to stretch your dollar or find a place where you can grab stuff cheap and resell it.

[ clothing, jewelry, computers, consumer electronics, general merchandise, housewares, tools and machinery, store fixtures… Even vehicles ]

Good buys at the LIQUIDATORS

Hope that helps…

Chin up and good hunting for that job.

Respectfully

John
